Here are our pros and cons of each approach. Ultimately the decision comes down to your specific company needs, however all things considered, we feel the cloud is the best approach for most businesses.

Advantages

  • The ability to access your data and work from any location worldwide is one of the most appealing features of any cloud-based platform.
  • Having Sage X3 on the cloud means not having to open your local network or maintain a remote access for all employees.
  • External applications, such as your web server, can access live Sage data via SQL calls.
  • A good X3 cloud provider will have redundant data locations, offsite backups, and disaster recovery solutions to keep you going.
  • Server maintenance, networking, and security are offloaded freeing up your IT department for other tasks.

Disadvantages

  • There are some security concerns associated with any cloud application. However, isolating your ERP from other business platforms provides some security benefits as well.
